Q & A

What is the membership money spent on?

We pride ourselves on having the lowest membership fees for any single model car club. The website, equipment and insurance procured for events consumes most of the club funds. No payments are made to any management member, other than expenses for the club where it has been necessary to pay for these funds.

Why should I become a member?

The club offers membership to all enthusiasts and owners of the MK1 Focus in original or near-original condition. Single model car clubs are able to concentrate an unrivalled support for “their” cars, something which increases in importance as the car gets older and more rarer. There is also the social aspect in meeting like-minded people based around the car, many long-term friendships have been made through the club already since its beginning. A paid-up membership allows you to access the club’s full services as shown on “The Club” section of this website, some of which is not cheap to deliver.

What are the requirements in order to join?

While we welcome as many potential members as possible, we must set an important requirement in order to protect the mission statement that the club management has agreed and followed from the very beginning. This club is a preservation club, therefore we only allow entry or continue to allow membership of this club when the prospective/current member has ownership of a MK1 in original condition or original with subtle modifications. This will be checked during the membership approval process.

Why do you not allow owners with heavily modified examples to join?

Very simple. The founding members of this club made a decision to support the preservation of the MK1 Focus in its factory form, which is the ultimate tribute to the car which is viewed widely as a beautifully executed piece of design and engineering brilliance. The club is an organisation that showcases and promotes the MK1 Focus in its original form.

Do I need to own a MK1 Focus to join?

Members are welcome regardless of their position of ownership as long as the requirement in the above question is met. Whether you have no car at all, a rough project or a show winner. We have many members who thoroughly enjoy their examples. Many are still used regularly, some infrequently and a portion are off the road for short and long-term repair work. Equally we have members who are enthusiasts of the car or some who are “between MK1s”.

Do you have a classifieds area?

Due to low demand we do not have a dedicated classifieds section currently on this website. It is highly recommended that members join the “Sales & Spares” Facebook group where members can advertise/look for parts and cars.
