The Club

What is the club about?

Established in April 2023, the Focus MK1 Preservation Club is a one-model club whose main goal is to promote the preservation of surviving examples and enhance the enjoyment these cars offer in the long-term.

Modern within Tradition

The MK1 Preservation Club supports the preservation of a modern classic within a similar structure to many traditional car clubs. The organisation is owned by our members and managed by a team of committed enthusiasts who volunteer their time. As a member you can become actively involved within the club community to support other members and their cars.

Like most traditional car clubs, we are a non-profit unincorporated organisation. This means effectively – its members are the club! All profits made from merchandise and memberships are invested back into the club to support its growth in all areas.

The “People-Focused” Community

Since its beginning the club’s main principle alongside its main goal, is to create a “people-focused” environment where everyone is respected and valued in a friendly and welcoming community. This has increasingly been the main strength of the club and has resulted in more enjoyable and quality membership experiences. Our membership is made up from a wide-range of ages and backgrounds. The best community for arguably one of the greatest people’s cars of all time.

A National Club with Local Connections

The Club’s ambitions are always centred around the bigger picture, but without its connections locally, would not achieve this ambition. We have a growing number of active local communities that cover the entire United Kingdom, each one is served by an Area Organiser who represents the club on a local level and organises events in that area for interested members locally. The events can stem from car shows to breakfast meets.

Every year the Club also organises major national events in different locations across the country with management members in attendance featuring a trophy competition. In 2025 we hosted four of these, which hosted the largest number of various MK1s in one place. Something not witnessed since the days of them being sold at Ford Dealerships!

Club Social Media Footprint

The club is very active on social media, we have a presence on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram.

The club’s origins started on a small YouTube channel called “Usually Fixing & Tinkering” which is run by the Club Founder, predominantly featuring MK1-related content. The videos were popular and this culminated in the formulation of the club. The channel continues to promote club events and technical support.

The club started out with just being a Facebook group which continues to be a hive of activity whether technical issues or sharing the love of the MK1. Many members are very experienced with the car and will most likely be able to give you a solution to a problem you are having! This was followed by a dedicated ‘Sales & Spares’ group which has supported members in finding that elusive part!

Focus MK1s are now challenging cars to own and having all these platforms helps members keep connected, take pride of ownership and pride in their club community.

Exceptional Technical Support

Technical advice is free to all members, just post the problem on our main Facebook page. Most of our Club technical experts are active on social media and most likely you will have some answers pretty quickly. Alternatively we have some dedicated email addresses for members to use for specific technical issues. The appropriate club expert in this field will answer as best as possible.

Lowest Club Membership Fee

We can boast by having the lowest membership fee of any car club due to being a non-profit organisation. This enables the club to perform all of its functions.
